WHAT IS THE CPAA?

 


The Concrete Polishing Association is a non-biased trade organization that has been established to build and maintain a high level of standards and increase the awareness and desire for concrete when processed to a polished finish through education that will lead to a more profitable and stronger industry.  Anyone and everyone in encouraged to become a  member and help shape the industry in a positive direction.

 

This will be accomplished by educating architects, engineers, general contractors, property owners and interior designers about polished concrete, how the process is performed, how results depend on many variables both within and not within a contractor's control, expectations of the finished product, where it should be used, how to properly specify the product and the intricacies and craftsmanship involved when processing concrete to a polished finish.  General contractors will be taught how to compare bids apples to apples and understand what they are receiving for the money they are spending.


The Concrete Polishing Association of America will issues unbiased accreditations that speak to individuals understanding and ability of the polishing process, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship to the end-user.  The Concrete Polishing Association is building alliances with Community and Technical Colleges across the nation to offer the our curriculum to students interested in the construction industry.

The Concrete Polishing Association will define industry standards and hold contractors and manufacturers to those standards, determine best practices, terminology and how concrete polishing contributes to LEED certification.

 

The Concrete Polishing Association of America will further:


  1. BulletDefine the processing process and its complexities.


  1. BulletDefine the functional and aesthetic advantages and disadvantages of ground, honed and polished concrete.


  1. BulletDefine the flooring options available when processing concrete to a desired finish.


  1. BulletBring true craftsmanship and professionalism to the concrete processing industry through contractor evaluations.


  1. BulletDevelop written specifications that will provide the desired results for the customer to include the concrete mix design, placement, finishing, joint layout, the ground, honed or polished finish to protection.


  1. BulletProvide tools to further develop their business in sales, marketing, estimating, business operations and development, including meeting the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES) credit requirements.


  1. BulletDevelop quality control programs that hold equipment, chemical and abrasive manufacturers accountable for quality- thereby producing the best possible outcome for polished concrete.
